Description

Help children move through their trauma with interventions that tap into their natural instincts of playfulness and curiosity.

In The Traumatized and At-Risk Youth Toolbox, you’ll find a variety of adaptable trauma-and attachment-informed interventions for working with these children, drawn from play therapy, art therapy, psychoeducation, storytelling, and more. Although written with foster care youth in mind, this toolbox can be used with any traumatized or at-risk child who struggles with anxiety, fear, worry, stress, anger, aggression, frustration, poor impulse control, grief, loss, or depression. It is especially beneficial for kids with:

  • Posttraumatic stress disorder
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
  • Reactive attachment disorder
  • Sensory processing disorder
  • Disinhibited social engagement disorder
  • Oppositional defiant disorder
  • Major depressive disorder

Children who enter foster care have unique needs. By helping these young clients create a sense of safety in their bodies and restoring trust, they can learn to gradually integrate the fragments of their unique lives into a coherent narrative and begin to heal.
