While many young people have been deeply affected by the COVID pandemic, LGBTQ youth have had particular challenges in this time. A population already prone to anxiety and depression, many within it have now experienced an increase in causal stressors including: marginalization, isolation, and hostility from others. Their disconnection from supportive resources during quarantine, as well as an anti-LGBTQ social and political backlash that occurred in the last year, are known contributors. This program will help you understand the factors that have decreased safety and increased trauma for their LGBTQ clients, and also how to assess for these factors. You'll subsequently learn how to develop and integrate treatment strategies that will help your queer young clients return to safely exploring their identity, building resilience, and managing painful emotions related to being a sexual and gender minority in today’s post-COVID world.
